Tour Plan

Day 01 Arrival in Cusco and Acclimatization

Upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.

The rest of the day will be free to relax and begin acclimatizing to Cusco’s altitude. We recommend walking slowly, drinking plenty of water and avoiding strenuous physical activity during your first few hours in the city.

You may also explore the nearby streets, traditional neighborhoods and the Plaza de Armas at your own pace.

Day 02 Cusco City Tour

After breakfast, you will begin a guided tour of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. The experience starts in the historic center, where you will visit the Plaza de Armas and learn about the city’s Inca and colonial heritage.

You will continue to Qorikancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, one of the most important religious buildings of the Inca civilization.

The tour then continues outside the city to the archaeological complexes of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo and Tambomachay. Your guide will explain the history, architecture and ceremonial importance of each site.

After the tour, you will return to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 03 Sacred Valley: Pisac and Ollantaytambo

We will pick you up from your hotel and travel through the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and traditional farming communities, this region played an essential role in the development of the Inca Empire.

Our first major stop will be Pisac, where you can explore the traditional artisan market and learn about local textiles, ceramics and Andean products.

We will then continue through the valley toward Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns in Peru. You will visit its impressive archaeological complex, terraces and ceremonial structures.

After the guided visit, you will spend the night in the Sacred Valley, allowing you to rest before beginning the Inca Trail.

Day 04 Sacred Valley – Km 82 – Wayllabamba

Early in the morning, we will travel to Km 82, the official starting point of the Classic Inca Trail. After passing the control point and presenting the required permits, we will begin our trek.

The first section follows the Urubamba River and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Along the route, you will begin discovering archaeological remains and traditional Andean landscapes.

We will continue toward Wayllabamba, where our team will prepare the first campsite. After dinner, you will rest surrounded by the peaceful scenery of the Andes.

Day 05 Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca Pass – Pacaymayo

This is considered the most physically demanding day of the Inca Trail. After breakfast, we will begin a steady ascent through changing ecosystems and mountain landscapes.

The trail leads to Warmiwañusca, also known as Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point of the trek at approximately 4,215 meters above sea level. From the summit, you can enjoy impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

After taking time to rest and photograph the landscape, we will descend toward the Pacaymayo Valley. Our campsite will be prepared in this beautiful mountain setting, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 06 Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Wiñay Wayna

After breakfast, we will continue along one of the most historically fascinating sections of the Inca Trail.

The day includes visits to remarkable archaeological sites such as Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca. Your guide will explain their possible administrative, ceremonial and strategic functions within the Inca road network.

As we descend, the environment gradually changes from high Andean landscapes to lush cloud forest. Along the way, you will encounter stone stairways, ancient tunnels and impressive views of the surrounding valleys.

We will continue to Wiñay Wayna, one of the most beautiful archaeological complexes on the route. Here, we will enjoy our final evening at camp before visiting Machu Picchu.

Day 07 Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will wake up very early and begin the final section of the Inca Trail. The route takes us toward Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate.

From this historic entrance, you will enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, surrounded by mountains and tropical cloud forest. We will then descend toward the archaeological complex.

Your professional guide will lead you through the main sectors of Machu Picchu, explaining its history, architecture, temples, terraces and ceremonial spaces.

After the guided tour, you will travel to the train station for the return journey. Upon arrival, transportation will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 08 Farewell and Airport Transfer

At the scheduled time, our representative will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Cusco Airport.

This marks the end of your 8-day Inca Trail, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour.
